What does biological magnification refer to?

Biological magnification refers to the process by which toxic substances accumulate in increasing concentrations as they move up the food chain. When small organisms or plants absorb pollutants or toxins from their environment, they may have relatively low concentrations of these substances. However, as larger animals consume these smaller organisms, the toxins become more concentrated in their bodies.
